ABOUT

Prelude to Worship is a project launching in the Tacoma area. This project is unique. This is not your typical touring band or a typical church band. We are set in a church yes, but we are expanding the group and hitting the studio this Summer for a worship music project. We need additional band members for not only the recording but for live performances so we are looking for those interested in studio work and during live worship services.

Influences

We have originals and also do covers from the newer albums from Lincoln Brewster, Hillsong United, Chris Tomlin, Gateway Worship, New Life Worship, just to name a few. Our original sounds can be classified as modern rock with a little more techy sound (not to be confused with techno) but lots of keys and pads and ambient fillers.

Members Of Band

Katie -Lead singer, acoustic guitar, writer, arranger, producer
Brian- lead electric guitar, bass, drums, mixer, gear head, techy, additional occasional lead vocals but we are searching for a stronger male vocalist. He fills in for the time being. also one of our writers
Evan-Drums and bass (we're currently borrowing this guy who has other commitments. He's great and will be helping us out in the studio and occasional live performances but we really need our own guy.)

What we're looking for:
Lead/rhythm electric and/or acoustic guitar player.
Lead Male vocalist (harmonies are a plus) you will be co-leading with our female Lead singer and lead some songs on your own and must know how to respond to the audience and communicate with them.
Drummer-our current drummer has other commitments but helps us out in the studio and occasional live performances. We need someone who takes direction well and understands dynamics; someone who can rock it out and also understands that sometimes less really is more! (ex. The drummers on Hillsong United Faith+Hope+Love album) The Drummer needs to be the heartbeat of the band and help carry us through but someone who can also play some mad solos.
Bass Player- We know how important the bass is. You will be treated with respect. We'd like someone who can funk it out on occasion (ex. Israel Houghton's "Again I say Rejoice") and rock it out during worship(Ex. Free Chapel's "Moving Forward")
Female Background vocalist-someone who can harmonize well almost without thinking but has the ability to sing lead on occasion.
keys/synth/pads- We really need a key's know-it-all. Someone who can possibly play straight piano during certain worship songs and also someone who can bring in modern tech sound (not to be confused with techno) We work with apple products so if you have an apple as your side-kick, that would be a definite plus. Someone who can also lead the band with piano sound on occasion.
Strings-we are looking for string players for the album as well as for live performances if you can commit. Cello, violin, viola.
Above all, you must have a passion for worship and understand that it's fun but also a lot of work and you need to be willing to work hard. You need to be able to practice at home and learn your responsibilities. We don't use our group practice time to learn the songs. We use group rehearsal time to blend together and workout technicalities of songs. You should already know the songs when you come to rehearsal if the song is a fully finished one.
We expect punctuality and thoroughness. We all sacrifice time in order to do this and don't let the rest of the groups sacrifices be in vain because you can never show up on time or don't learn your parts.

We gave examples of what we are looking for and don't worry. They're just examples of where we wanna go. We don't expect you to fit the mold of someone else but we ARE looking for SKILLED musicians and singers who are dedicated and can commit. You must be available Monday and Thursday evenings for rehearsals and Sundays when we mostly play. Please don't waste your time or ours if you can't pull it off.
Contact us by e-mailing ContactSeLaVie at to send us some tracks. We'd love to set up a time to hang out and get to know you as a person as well. But it's very important that we be able to hear you play before we set up an appointment so if you don't currently have any recordings, get one or make a video off your web cam. Believe it or not, we have had quite a few "musicians" who have had no available recordings whom we gave a break and met with them first and to our surprise they couldn't play a lick to save their lives. We just want to ensure we don't waste your time if you're not what we're looking for and that and you don't waste ours if it turns out you have no talent or musical ability. So, please send us a sample of what you do. Quality of recording (or lack there of) will not be considered. We know how to look past bad quality recordings and other band members to see YOUR talent so don't hesitate. But it's important that we get a sample of your work before we can start any formal auditions. Thank you.
