ABOUT

QuarterHouse is a quick-paced, hard-driving group of North Carolina natives that offer a mixture of traditional, old-time and progressive bluegrass, interspersed with bits of country, rock, blues and folk music.

Anita Bishop plays guitar and is an immensely talented vocalist whose voice is clear and expressive, driving at times – sweet at others. On mandolin and acoustic guitar is John Bishop, who also alternates on lead vocals, and adds to the unique vocal structure of the band. Drew Bishop lays down savvy fiddle and mandolin licks, as well as adds to the family vocal harmony. Greg Trollinger completes the lead instrumentalist section of the band with his red-hot, dynamic banjo style. Harold Lynch, on acoustic bass, comprises the harmonic foundation of the band’s sound.

The band has been together since the spring of 1992. They performed for three seasons at Carowinds Theme Park, and have played for events such as Bele Chere in Asheville, Charlotte’s First Night and Best of Charlotte, Folkmoot, Spartanburg Spring Fling and Hendersonville Street Dance as well as a variety of stage settings from town festivals, university functions, corporate and private gatherings, restaurants and music festivals.
