RAR, a classic power trio is: Guitarist -Rik Massey, Andre' Davis and Roy Banks. The members of RAR,(pronounced "rare") have performed in bands in the Wisconsin area for years. They were all performing with local smooth jazz R&B group Collage & Co. in 2010 when vocalist and bassist Andre' presented the idea of forming the trio. The chemistry between the 3 was undeniable and they performed their first official gig as RAR on March 19, 2011.
The name RAR, a combination of the members' first names, is also a description of the groups musical leanings. Their current setlist is indeed a rare combination of genres and artists.
They cover Al Green, Kansas, Prince, John Mayer, Phil Collins, Kem, Usher, The Eagles, Tears for Fears, Gnarls Barkley, The Beatles, Musiq Soulchild, Cameo, Maxwell, Frankie Beverly and Maze, Gary Clark Jr., Steely Dan and more!!
Although they are R&B based, they do not want to be pegged solely an R&B group. They are so much more. They also are performing well written, top notch original music and recently released their first project, The self produced Loud Silence EP!!!
Already, RAR has performed in Chicago and Mississippi, with upcoming gigs in Ft. Wayne, Indiana and other regional cities. In the Milwaukee area they have performed at: G-Daddy's BBC, Chic Lounge, Blackthorn, Paje', ARJ's Panache, Swig, New Entertainer's, The Milwaukee Public Market, The Four Points Sheraton, African World Festival, The Rick Inn, Kim's Lakeside in Pewaukee and ParkSide 23 in Brookfield.
