About

Combining the breezy sounds of 1970s yacht rock and the sucker punch of 1990s post-punk, Recovery Council brings both the calm and the storm. The power trio, led by guitarist/vocalist/keyboardist Rebeca Qualls, produces an intoxicating concoction of raucous guitar, melodic keys, fluid bass, and precision percussion topped with straightforwardly serene vocals.

The new album Gentle Stories, was released on 3/1/11, and we are currently promoting it live into 2012. Coming off of a national college/web radio promotion campaign since June 2011 we have been booking gigs in venues that have been receptive to original music.

Influences

I listen to everything from Sergio Mendes to Meshuggah. But as for this music, there's a little bit of all these big ol' influences: My Bloody Valentine, Quicksand/Rival Schools, Helmet, Steely Dan, Husker Du, Minutemen/fIREHOSE, (pre-1992)Sonic Youth, Voivod, My Dad Is Dead, Rush, Getz/Gilberto, Yaz, Intronaut, Wes Montgomery, Joy Division/New Order, Faith No More, Prong, Living Strings playing all kinds of cheesy Easy Listening remakes, Iron Maiden, and a honkin' whole lot more.

Equipment List

I'm not going to sit here and rattle off equipment stuff but I will say I have a strong affinity toward ESP guitars, Tech 21 amps/effects, the ISP Decimator G-String and most Boss pedals.
