About 4 years ago, a friend and I put together a group to play for a corporate Holiday party on Cabbage Key. Had a blast and we tried to continue on but continually ran into obstacles with personnel and musical differences. We were both rhythm guitar players and I believe we both felt we were holding each other back so we parted ways as friends in late 2010. It was during this period of time that I finally tried singing and I found it to be as much fun as playing. We had also discovered our current bass player Greg, who was the best bass player I've ever heard, and our current lead guitar player Dave. Dave turned out to be a very talented lead guitar player for us. So with a solid core of lead, rhythm and bass guitars, we started looking for drums, keys, and a lead vocalist. After a few depressing weeks, the Dooley boys answered a Craigslist ad. Bob Dooley was a drummer, and we were anxious to fill that position before the other positions. When we talked on the phone, he asked if he could bring his son Sean who was a keyboard player. Long story short--Bobby is an awesome drummer and singer. And Sean turned out to be the best keyboard player I've played with and probably one of the most talented musicians I know. And he also is an ecellent singer. We really hit a home run with the Dooley boys. We then turned our attention to finding a lead vocalist. It was an agonizing 2 months trying out lead vocalists. Nobody seemed to be a perfect fit for us. Finally, I received an email from Danny Reese, a vocalist I knew from an earlier attempt to put together a band in 2009. He was wondering what new Christmas gift I had purchased for myself, knowing full well I was afflicted with GAS (gear acquisition syndrome). I asked him if he thought there was a chance he might want to sing for us. He said he might be interested in the job and I sent him a few recordings to listen to. After several weeks of auditions with us, we agreed to give him a shot. Danny is a seasoned vocalist who has a unique style and voice. The two of us alternate playing rhythm guitar depending on who is singing lead. So there you have it--the history of Redemption SWF.
