SEEKING
Band to Join, Vocalist, Rhythm Guitar, Acoustic Guitar, Drums, Other Percussion, Trumpet, Saxophone, Keyboard, Piano, Harmonica, Flute, Electronic Music.ABOUT
These songs were recorded over the last few years. I play with creativity, dynamics and energy and enjoy sculpting musical art, whether deep funk, acoustic/electric jazz, heavy rock, blues of any shade, ambient sound, or world/folk music. The bass bridges rhythm and melody, holds together beats, framing harmonic changes. Whether playing tight funk, in or out jazz, or shuffling the blues, I like to keep the rhythm popping and the harmonic structure in synch.
I have played in rock, blues and jam bands; done the wedding band thing; covered songs in many genres; recorded several albums in jazz/rock/funk/jam/blues/world music. I have been blessed to play music with many musicians whom I respect, and I am thankful for that experience.

Influences
My earliest influences were classical recordings in glorious monophonic hi-fi, liturgical music, movie themes, environmental sound, and AM radio rock. Early bands covered American blues (Muddy, Wolf, Butterfield) and British rock and blues (Mayall, Cream, Beatles, Stones). I was exposed to contemporary orchestral music, whose dissonance and atonality I also sought in jazz. These musical encounters drove a strong interest in improvisation, tempered by song structure as well as textures of the moment. Early bass influences include McCartney, Cassidy, Bruce, Jamerson, Jaco, Jimmy Garrison, Ray Brown and Charles Mingus, and composers like Ellington, Bach, Ralph Vaughan Williams, Ravel, Ludwig von. Recent influences cover world beat, jazz, rock - and life.
