ABOUT

I'm a bassist and a drummer. I currently play drums in a church praise & worship band. I'm looking for a band to play bass with. I'm open to playing Christian, country, rock, pop, or most anything as long as I have a good group to play with. I'm willing to play out once per week, preferably a Friday night thing, but I'm flexible to other nights.

What I'd really like to find is a band just starting out, so I can get back in to the groove of things and have a chance to work with others as we develop a sound.

I can also do vocals. My range isn't the best -- I'm more of a baritone which doesn't lend itself to lead vocals very often. It depends on the song. I am familiar with singing harmony and have sung bass in SATB choirs. If I'm playing bass and singing, I need to get the bass guitar part down tight and then I can add the vocals.

Influences

Gosh, I'm not even sure who to put here. I listen to a lot of music and borrow from different styles. I enjoy a walking bass part as much as I like a good funky syncopated back-beat. It's not about being married to a style, but finding the style of playing that fits the song and the mood.

If I'm playing a cover, I like to try and master the cover as it was written out of respect. Yet there are times when I'm playing a song that has been covered by so many people that there is no one "correct" way of playing that I'll experiment and try different ways of playing that song.
