About
I've been playing 4, 5 and 6 string electric bass for over 35 years. I've played all kinds of gigs, from bars with 10 old men sitting around wondering what the He$$ is going on, to playing Madison Square Garden and Carnegie Hall (really!), and every corporate event and wedding that you can imagine in between. I have all pro gear, good experience, and absolutely (ABSOLUTELY) no ego. I live to play for fun, not cash. Really. So, I don't want to turn this into a job ! Must be fun.
I'm looking for a band that has at least 1 guitar, drums, and vocals for a few casual gigs here and there, or just to jam. I enjoy playing most types of music.
I have a really great day job, and I'm not looking for any bands that want to make music a significant source of income. This needs to be fun, and the quality of the music should be good.
This is a hobby for me, but something I take very serously, without the cash flow aspect.
Practice about once a week would be good, and playing out once or twice a month would be OK. Definately must be close to Buffalo Grove, IL.
I would say that I'm a pretty good player, I was better 20+ years ago when I was playing every day for hours on end, but these days I think I can keep up with most songs and bands. Not awesome, but pretty good.

Influences
Santana, Allman Bros, Chicago, Southern Rock, Jimmy Buffet, ZZ Top, you get the idea... Anything from the top of the charts from the 70's and 80's, rockers, JAZZ, oldies, blues, dance'able stuff - and I love bands with horns. Absolutely no speed metal, rap, bands with DJs. No instrumental only bands. NO ORIGINAL-only bands. Having fun, and playing while people are dancing is what it's all about for me.
Bands that know how to sound good and play with moderate volume are what I'm looking for.
And, absolutely no drugs.
Equipment List
I have all pro equipment - various amps - from practice amps (Edens 15" combo) to really large amps for larger venues (1000 watt Bi-Amped Peavy 18" and 10"s). I also have several bass guitars, mostly I play 5 string bass, but have some 4's and some 6's - (Fender P and J Bass, Yamaha, Peavey, Lakland, etc...)
