ABOUT

RoomForError (RFE), an original rock band from Ludlow, PA, is steadily clawing their way to the top of the charts with their own brand of music characterized in part by its intensity and the sheer volume at which it is played. A unique combination of styles and influences gives them a distinctive sound that cannot be easily categorized.

Their earliest beginnings stem back to the fall of 2011 when lyricist and vocalist, Zach Dase, recruited guitarist and former-classmate, Chad Kelly, for a new “rock project”. Within a month, drummer and NYC-native, John Grimm, came aboard, and, with that, RFE was born. The trio immediately began playing out locally, always to an overwhelmingly-positive response, but, in mid-2012, just as they began reaching their stride, Chad left the band to pursue other interests. With two founding members remaining, the decision was made to pick up the pieces and continue moving forward.

Immediately after Chad’s departure, guitarist and Philadelphia-native, Brandon Kulp, stepped in along with bassist, Dusty Huff, and, just like that, RFE was truly whole for the first time since its inception. Although the newly-united foursome ultimately decided to continue making music under the RFE moniker, the band’s sound changed dramatically; Brandon’s dark, metal-influenced guitar riffs gave John the opportunity to fully exploit his true passion for metal drumming, which, in turn, allowed Zach to incorporate a heavier tone into his typically grunge-influenced vocals. With Dusty filling out the bottom end, RFE’s newer, darker, heavier sound was fully realized.

The band spent the latter half of 2012 in a self-induced “hibernation”, focused primarily on writing new material. Then, in early-2013, RFE entered the studio, resulting in their self-titled debut EP. Soon after its release, countless radio stations across the country began playing the EP’s lead single, “Astronauts & Addicts”, which would end up being the band’s first successful attempt at capturing the public eye.

In the fall of 2013, bassist/backing vocalist, Jeff McClellan, was brought aboard. Jeff’s arrival had a profound impact on RFE’s structure and sound; Dusty moved from bass to rhythm guitar allowing Brandon to focus on lead guitar duties, thus creating a fuller, more dynamic live performance. However, Jeff’s presence affected the band’s sound not only instrumentally, but vocally, as his back-ups and harmonies helped the band achieve the “three-dimensional” feel they had envisioned since their earliest writing sessions. In early-2014, just as Brandon and Dusty were settling into their new roles, Jeff abruptly left the group. Having experienced the luxury of dual guitars and back-up vocals, it was decided that the band would not be content reverting back to its pre-Jeff structure.

Soon after Jeff’s exit, bassist/backing vocalist, Nick Puleo, stepped in to take his place. Nick’s stage-presence, intricate bass lines, and heavy back-up vocals have quickly established him as an essential member of the band.

Currently, RFE is playing numerous venues in and around their home state of Pennsylvania and working on new material for their upcoming second EP.
