ABOUT

Guitar player for 40+ years. Limited tour experience when I was younger. Love all styles and constantly studying new methods, techniques etc. I pride myself on being a well rounded player with as much enthusiasm for acoustic guitar as electric and all styles. No boxes. I don't like the term expert, meaning there is always more to learn, so I see myself as advanced. Looking for writers and co-writers, jam partners, recording opportunities, collaborators, conspirators. I have a well appointed 24 track studio and plenty of gear to record great music. Looking for help getting these ideas out of my head ... and to help you with yours. New Age, RnB, Americana, Rock, Metal...all are welcome. I am committed to making good music. You can get me at donyyates at Geemale dot com as well as here.

Influences

This list tends to grow daily. I try to find things to learn from everyone I listen to. I am not one of those older guys who thinks music died in the 80's. There is a lot of good music being made now. Amongst this ever growing list of influences are ... Chet Atkins, Jeff Beck, Paul Kossoff, Mark Farner, John Lennon, Leo Kottke, The Edge, Diana Ross, Andy Timmons, Bonnie Raitt, The Indigo Girls, Tina Malia, Lari Basilio and on and on.
