About

I am a lead guitarist looking to join or start a hard rock / metal cover band. I am looking to play songs by bands like Aerosmith, Avenged Sevenfold, Black Label Society, Candlebox, Collective Soul, Default, Disturbed, Godsmack, Guns n' Roses, Hellyeah, Led Zeppelin, Live, Marilyn Manson, Megadeth, Metallica, Mudvayne, Nirvana, Nickelback, Offspring, Pantera, Pearl Jam, Rob Zombie, Slipknot, Smashing Pumpkins, Static-X, Stone Temple Pilots, System of a Down, Tool, U2, Velvet Revolver, etc.

I already know a lot of songs by a lot of these bands, and it doesn't take me long to learn a song, so I am looking to find people who also have been playing for a while and can learn songs quickly, because my main goal is to play out as often as possible. I am a working professional and this is only a hobby; however music is my biggest passion outside of work and I love playing out. I am looking for people who have a similar mindset, i.e. people who have careers but are passionate about playing music and want to do it just for fun (i.e. don't care about the money aspect and are not looking to be rock stars). Also, the way I like to learn cover songs is to get all the changes down properly, but as for solos, I only learn them note for note if it is an iconic solo or such-- otherwise I learn the major parts of the solo and improvise parts, so I am looking for people who are open to minor reinterpretations of songs (i.e. we do not need to learn every song down to an insane exactness).

About me:
I am 30, been playing guitar for 15 years, and have played lots of shows in various cover bands in other parts of the country (I moved here in July 2010). The last one was called Moksha (you can check it out at www.myspace.com/moksharocks), which was a hard rock/metal cover band in Minneapolis, where I went to grad school. I have pro gear, I don't do drugs, don't have an ego, etc. etc.; I just want to play some awesome hard rock and metal out at the bars around here with a good band consisting of like-minded people. Also: as mentioned, I haven't been in this area too long and so, in addition to finding bandmates for the above project, I would love to jam with anyone with similar musical interests or especially anyone who might be interested in another project idea I have-- creating some original fusion music mixing classical Indian elements like sitar or tabla with hard rock/metal (my ethnic background is Indian, and this fusion idea is something else I've always wanted to get going-- have tried it before and it actually works! The odd thing is, I would be playing the metal guitar, and you would need to play sitar or tabla, as I don't know how to play any classical Indian instruments. I was born and raised here-- what can you do haha...).
