Influences

So, my influences include, God where do I start? Oh well, I guess
that's as good as any perfect beginning eh? But seriously, lets see, after God comes hmm...got it... ready? Iron Butterfly. Yep
Inna Gadda Da Vidda. Woh! fried my little mind. Drums baby and
more drums, gotta have it. After that...yep it's John, no Paul, no
Jo... no George, Paul, definitely not Ringo bless his heart, but yeah it's gotta be J...Yoko, Yoko, put it right there in the road for all us would-be rockers to see: bands are Fragile, but that of course was still a few years off, YES, Wakeman, Roundabout, Floyd,
Frankenstein, Terry Kath (what a blow! single most catastrophic
loss in the whole history of lost pop rock smokin' derelicts, Mr. Guitar: Terry Kath. If you doubt it, you need to go back to
Chicago to church and remember why Jimmy was tragic to be sure but in the end, Terry had him by a solid head and shoulders. (Don't even bother with the photo, just listen, you'll see). OK so
Chicago really a tour d'force with CTA, II and III all doubles, back to back.

Gotta respect the Authority... but after that... oh yeah, no contest, Walter, Donald and co. - Skunk reelin', Bodhisattva wheelin' n dealin' and Aja sealing it all up with Steve Gadd flying all the way to the end of time, and beyond.

Beyond the Dan? Easy ... the Dead :) right. Am I right? Garcia and company, One More Saturday Night...etc,etc,etc, long winded but lovable and perfect party rock ya know? OK, but now where do we go? Try this: Lowell (the other white meat) but you'd never know it the sound of him, the blackest New Orleans blues singing white boy George to ever eat a peach and live in Southern CA and those Little Feat well they just didn't stand him up long enough. There's another so tragic loss way before he was a due, that Fat Man in the Bathtub gave us all the blues. But then comes Bonnie, and the moment of the worst cosmic disconnect in all the random precision of the annals of commercial music, why in God's name didn't those Little Feat boys just jump all over that with both they feet and they 2 hands too? Bonnie Raitt was destined to be the voice of Little Feat (after Lowell George) an it jus gives me a hurt deep down inside wit knowin' it a weren't ta be so, no, no, And my favorite band of all time would never again rise to the level of greatness they so fleetingly enjoyed. I have to admit considerable balm for my pain does lie in the deep cuts and collaborations of her extensive solo achievements.

So sniff sniff, Who's next? Oh oh love has come to town. It's the Talking Heads and I don't mean D. Byrne. Now don't get me wrong, I mean no disrespect to his prodigious talent and productivity, but the Talking Heads were a unit; the perfect example of the whole being more than the sum of... right? Byrne sans the remaining Heads, just not so much, for me. Check out the album "No Talking, Just Head" for a think outside the box bender though - really something. Gotta go, more soon.
