Calfskin Smack was born late 2008. My name is Christian Van Campen and I write music, prolifically. My works are compelling instrumentals, tender, heavy, emotive, rocktronica soundscapes. I am looking for the same sensibilities about music in possible band members. I am currently shopping around two full length albums to the appropriate record labels, actively placing work in film/motion pictures and on radio. I have carefully secured copyrights for my work and am bracing myself for the things to come. The music I write is endlessly laborious, cathartic and solely for the purpose to move myself first then share it with others. I am relieved to say I am well into a second collection of songs in the meantime. Looking for musicians mostly for their special nuances and ideas to escalate the song dynamics further. Ward, The Walkmen, Coldplay, Andrew Bird, Cat Power, etc. It is impossible to acknowledge the entire multitude.
