**************************************************************************
My biological father played bass for Marty Robbins for 2 years, also for Jeannie C Riley, and did an emergency gig with Dolly. My great grand father who could play piano by ear, could also name notes without looking at the keys. My grandmother and her sisters all sang and we were the family who would sing on the porch with whoever brought their guitar, including mom. After my grandmother passed and all the great aunts stopped visiting we stopped singing so much. Though unable to continue now, Mom joined a couple of gospel groups that traveled and she loved it. My aunt still has us singing Christmas Hymnals while setting up or tearing down the Christmas tables.

My background: Church choir and harmony with mom and a cousin singing church 'specials' as a young girl. Then school chorus, and clarinet in both symphonic and marching band. Later the choir director formed some groups for school functions and competitions. In early spring of my senior year we tried out for a job at Six Flags Over Ga which we scored with "Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy". We traded 30 minute sets with a group called "Everybody's Brothers", an Acapella group and later with the Blue Grass band who scored a job the same day we did.

When the group split at the end of the season, I became MC for the Shirt Tales show until Warner Brothers bought out the Characters (cartoon) contract and I became Bugs Bunny for the next season. I worked concerts during my off hours where I met Night Ranger, Blue Oyster Cult all the way to Amy Grant, Debbie Boone, Kool And the Gang, Air Supply and De Barge. Air Supply invited a bunch of us onto the bus where we all just played cassettes and sang. No drugs, no alcohol, just fun.

That fall I met a band looking for another female for lead and backup. I auditioned and a month after that, I joined them on the road for 2.5 years. We traveled to 25 states, from GA to Montgomery Alabama, up the Midwest, all the way to Moscow, Idaho. This was my college... :)

We stumbled upon more celebrities while traveling/touring - Tanya Tucker back before she had kids, and the Four Tops. We met Bo Didley playing the "Wildwood Flower" in Missouri. Because nature dumped a ton of snow, Bo's audience was our band and some staff... I ran lights, Dorinne ran sound.

I met and married someone there and we had the Oscar Mayer child. That was 29 years ago. Most of my singing since has been solo at church, or with a group from there and loved it. My claim to fame are these things... Tanya Tuckers manager, walking into the club, said I needed a different mic but he really liked my voice. Secondly, a James Brown tribute band we used to travel the same club route with via our agent offered me a job after I had my son.

While I was in the band, I did most of the artists listed, singing lead and playing sax. I also packed up, and set up. Nobody got out of load out, no matter how late you got back Saturday evening LOL. :) My sax is Roxie. I took a short hiatus from the band and Dorinne the sound girl started playing the sax and named it Victoria and played her pretty good. So I bought an Emil Blessings silver carved Alto. Do and I talked about what to name her. She said "How about Roxie" and it stuck.

Of First Attraction, the bass player, from New Mexico, is playing with a Salsa Band there. The Drummer (stellar), a personal trainer, plays around Atlanta and church. A second drummer, also still playing in Alabama. The other girl in the band, Val, played with a touring band but is currently not playing.. The guitarist has been with a Gospel group for years now. The sound girl, she came onstage when I left. She moved to Port Richey Florida near the guitarist and they did some stuff early on... I talked to Do then and she said they also played at a church sometimes where they had three services - the early service was for the "Uptight", the middle service, for the "Upright" and the last service was for the "Laid back" where you could wear shorts to service LOL

I was so VERY fortunate to have stumbled into these folks when I was a young girl. I want to be with people who play and sing because they can't help themselves and want to have some fun. So my head and arms and heart are wrapped up in music without an outlet all these years. I just have all these sparkles of touching the entertainment industry in many ways. I'm not opposed to any songs or stage show that wouldn't make my grandma ashamed of me. :)
