I've performed professionally full-time for 20+ years, touring almost constantly since 1984 in jazz combos, big bands, rock/country/pop cover bands, brass quintets, marching bands, wind ensembles, and piano trios as a electric/string bass and tuba/sousaphone instrumentalist, group leader, conductor, arranger, narrator, or tour manager. Highlights of these travels were concert tours across Europe (Austria, Belgium, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, England, France, Germany, Greece, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Italy, Luxembourg, Malta, Monaco, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Russia, San Marino, Scotland, Serbia, Slovenia, Spain, Switzerland, Ukraine, Wales), North Africa (Algeria, Egypt, Morocco, Tunisia), and the Middle East (Bahrain, Israel, Kuwait, Turkey).
I own reliable transportation, pro-quality equipment, and have no bad habits that could cause you to question my reliability. Comfortable in all styles. I read music (notes and chord symbols), can transcribe quickly, and learn material fast. Ignore the three genre selections...I had to select something, but can successfully perform most any contemporary style.
Currently working with Carissa Dawn (midmissourigirl @ myspace), Sugar Creek Revival (sugarcreekrevival @ myspace), and Jimmy Hudson Band (jimmyhudsonband @ myspace).
Along the way, I have received an Associate of Arts in Italian studies from University of La Verne, a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Rhode Island with a major in Italian language and dual minors in Political Science and Economics, a Master of Science in Management with a specialization in Finance from University of Maryland, and a Master of Business Administration, also from University of Maryland.
I have mostly inspirations drawn from the deity class of bassists: Stanley Clarke, Jaco Pastorius, Ray Brown, and many others. To call them influences would imply I manage to play at the same or similar level as them; that would be an embarassing overstatement.
My playlist is rather eclectic, and probably better described as mildly schizophrenic: AC/DC, Battlefield Band, The Tossers, Lucinda Williams, Cat Power, Runrig, Wolfstone, The Young Dubliners, Enter the Haggis, Hank Williams (I, II, III), Tiger Army, The Chop Tops, Canadian Brass, Bob Wills, Dropkick Murphys, and many more I might list here someday if I can be convinced that nobody will seriously question by mental stability.
Ken Smith and Fender basses, Gallien-Krueger amps. They have never failed me after hundreds of gigs.
I've played Kay string basses; no they're not glamorous and lack the "Geltung und Ansehen" of a 150-year-old flatback German bass, but they get the job done. I've also used Clevinger electric uprights and Miraphone tubas.
