It's sad about state of music these days, especially on the East Coast. Sad because no one seems to want to steer their talents in directions to challenge the norm and introduce original ideas/music to the general public. I mean, how else can things happen and the order of things change? I'm not talking about becoming famous or anything of that ilk (that would be a pipe dream in today's musical climate), but being entertaining, playing well and making new friends along the path, while giving this area something more than the same old same-old. The cover scene is fine if you want to compete with some of the best out there today; some who have been playing together for 30 years or more. Well, that's not our cup of tea...
I'm realistic, too,for it's quite unlikely that any band can play-out with all originals and expect to get anyone to stick around and listen for any length of time (short attention spans is the order of the day). That's the other bad-half of it. Isn't it time, then, someone took the initative to build something just a little more appetizing than what the venue-menus currently offer; i.e., musically-speaking?
Do you have the grit for it? The heart? Interested in utilizing your talents in more enjoyable, satisfying and productive ways and, perhaps, set another flavor of precedent beyond the lengthy soup line of discouraged players?
Having said that...
We're seeking a bassist (I myself play bass, but am on other instruments at present)for momentum towards a more "original" project, but first: consider exploring the basics of having fun playing music with enjoyable comrades. Regarding the above/below pix, it is, essentially, a joke I conjured up for some personal friends... but anyone who "gets it" probably qualifies for the position. (Suggested lite reference reading: The St. Cleve Chronicle.) The music, however, should always have an undercurrent of seriousness to it and be well-executed. Have a listen... Cheers, and wait to hear from you (and you know who you are!)
