About Me:
I am a 24 year old Lighting Engineer working the 8-5 drudgery. An alright job but nowhere near as fun as my two main passions: music and surfing. I am a singer/songwriter with a decent amount of material (some more polished than others). I love playing with other musicians; when you are jamming on a song and everything goes together just right there is almost no bigger rush for me. Currently I play acoustic exclusively although I think some of my songs would lend themselves well to electric and I am not opposed to playing electric or experimenting with other instruments. Its just acoustic definitely lends itself better to a solo singer/songwriter.
Music Experience:
I started music in middle school playing the French horn (The most beautiful brass instrument in my biased opinion). I continued to play it all the way through high school. I also played guitar in the school jazz band so I definitely have some jazz influences in my guitar playing. I love using interesting chords that incorporate dissonance and resolution. Once in college my songwriting really started to take off. My playing has always sort of been off and on as I get busy with other things but I find that I am most happy when I’m playing consistently. Since my life dream is not to be doing commercial lighting I have a renewed sense of commitment to my music. Even if I could just make a modest living playing gigs it would be a dream come true. I am not an excellent vocalist by any means but I can sing my own songs well as my voice compliments the style I play.
Song Writing Philosophy:
I believe that a good song communicates a particular emotion through imagery and feel of the music. My main goal when I write songs is to evoke a particular emotion in people by generalizing the song (lyrics) in such a way that everyone can relate their own personal experiences to the song and make it their own in a sense. I have always found it fascinating how the same song can mean something different to each person that hears it, but unites everyone with a common emotion.

Influences
John Mayer, Jack Johnson, Led Zeppelin, The Beatles, David Byrne, Joni Mitchell, George Benson, Rogue Wave, Latin Jazz, Fusion Jazz (Return to Forever Romantic Warrior one of the greatest fusion albums ever!) among others. I just like music that sounds good haha.
