SISTER MERCY possesses a high energy, blues driven sound. Lead singer April Brown is mesmerizing with her powerful, beautiful presence, full range vocals and complete joy in performance. Scott Garcia creates memorable licks on guitar and Roger Espinor (drums) and Debby Espinor (keyboards) hold the rhythms down tight. Semi-finalist in the International Blues Challenge 2016 AND in 2018 as well as nominated for Best New Band for the Muddy Awards and Best Contemporary Band for the CBA Muddy Awards. SISTER MERCY represents the Cascade Blues Association of Portland, Oregon, SISTER MERCY presents original and cover music that is a pleasure for the ears and a show that is a feast for the eyes.

Members Of Band

Lead singer April Brown, comes to Portland via Los Angeles where she worked as a singer with several well-known bands. Sister Mercy band members have deep roots in the Oregon regional music area. Roger Espinor played with the award-winning Rose City Kings, as it’s original drummer and band production manager. He produced three CD’s with this high-energy blues band and brings that creative, driving rhythms to Sister Mercy.

Michelle Rose holds down the bass with 40 years as both a professional and part-time musician. Scott Garcia brings strong blues licks and amazing vocals as well as strong energy to the stage.

Keyboardist Debby Espinor rounds out the band. Debby has played all styles of piano. Highway 99 Blues club was home for The Love Doctors with Charlene Grant and lately she has played across the region with a local jazz band. Ray Charles, Dr. John and Nina Simone as well as Portland local David Vest have influenced her personal style.

Sister Mercy is competing in the finals for The Journey to Memphis competition. Sponsored by the Cascade Blues Association the J2M winner will head to Memphis in January.

The Annual Gorge Blues and Brews Fest is located on the Columbia River waterfront at the Skamania County Fairgrounds in Stevenson, Washington. From Portland, Oregon, take I-84 to exit number 44 in Cascade Locks. Cross the Bridge of the Gods ($1.00 toll) to State Route 14 in Washington. Turn right on SR 14 and travel approximately two miles to downtown Stevenson. Take your first left onto Rock Creek Drive. Proceed for about a quarter of a mile. The fairgrounds will be on your left.
