Band to Join, Steel guitar, Background Singer, Keyboard, Drums, Bass Guitar, Lead Guitar, Vocalist - General.
I have just recently moved to Smyrna TN (Nashville). I am retired and have been playing
in a cover band in St Louis. ( http://www.bandmix.com/doc-rock-it/ ) I also have a ProTools project studio in my home
that I use for creating demos and full blown CDs for local bands. I am looking
to hook up with some local musicians here to play with. Full Band, Trio, or Duo I really don't care.
I love doing benefit stuff too. I'm not looking to play for a living (Been There, done That) and I am not looking to be some kind of star. I gave up those dreams YEARS ago along with my ego.
I have played in Cover bands since I was 15 years old...usually but
not always, as the front man. I have played and love to play Country, Rock and
Blues. Mostly from the 60s through most of the 90s. I have strong lead vocals
and can sing harmony. I have no problem being just one of the guys in the band.
Since my main instrument is my voice, I am a bit particular about how the PA sounds.
I have my own quality PA and now how to run it. Nothing to me sucks more than a band with
good vocals and thousands of dollars in equipment to have a PA that sounds
like you are singing into cardboard box. I mean, after all, what is the point?
I would not call myself a LEAD Player though I can play some lead. I am primarily
a rhythm gtr player and vocalist.

Where do I begin? I was born to play and sing. I might not have been destined to be a star but I am sure it was meant for me to be playing and singing somewhere. I have been singing since before I could talk and never missed a chance to do it in front of friends and family. I finally convinced my parents to get me a guitar for Christmas when I was 13. My parents were dirt poor and scraped together the $30 bucks it took to buy the starter size guitar from Montgomery Wards. I was hooked instantly.
I hooked up with my still best friend ever, Anthony Walker and he and I started a rock band down in southeast Missouri called “DIRT CITY”. What a blast we had!! As I grew up, I played in several bands and basically just followed where the music took me. I have played in clubs and honky-tonks from St Louis to Houston, Texas and many, many points in between. I finally got married and settled down for a few years. In the 1990’s I played with “SANTE FE” a top 40 C/W dance band around St Louis. I had a great time with those guys and played with some really fine musicians. Later on I became one of the founding members of the St Louis rock band called “Kaution” with Mike French and another really great group of guys.
I really think that has been the secret of my success with the bands I have been in. I have always tried to find really quality people who also just happen to be great musicians to play music with. I have been very successful with that approach and “DOC ROCK-IT”, back in St Louis, was certainly no exception to that rule.
