ABOUT

Pirates for Sail performs traditional maritime, Celtic, and English folk music: sea chanteys, songs of the sea and sailing, Celtic ballads, Irish and English drinking songs and pub tunes. We occasionally do more contemporary music from folk singers such as Stan Rogers and Tom Lewis, and sometimes even contemporary pop tunes that are rooted in the traditions of the music that makes up the bulk of our playlist.

We perform at pirate-themed festivals and private parties in the mid-Atlantic region (Maryland, Virginia, Pennsylvania, Delaware, New Jersey, New York) dressed in historically accurate garb for the Golden Age of Piracy (1690-1730). We have recorded three CDs.

Past Events

Marcus Hook, PA, located on the Delaware River halfway between Wilmington and Philadelphia, was a haunt of Blackbeard himself. This annual festival celebrates that piece of history and helps raise funds to preserve the "Plank House," the home of one of Blackbeard's mistresses. We've been appearing at this festival since it began.

We have performed at this annual festival on Maryland's Eastern Shore every year since it began. We're perform several sets both Saturday and Sunday.
