I book jazz gigs all over the St. Louis area and use varying combo sizes. I play trumpet/flugelhorn and sing. I'm looking for well-trained jazz players who can sight read anything you might put in front of them. My concept is to put together bands that can play whatever jazz standard that might be requested. You should own several fakebooks, and be able to play any tune pretty much at first read. I'm tired of attending endless rehearsals for rock n' roll cover bands with people who can't even read music. I'm tired of blowing my brains out with these cover bands also. I have a steady gig now at a very nice St. Louis restaurant and am always looking for upright bass players, pianists and guitar players.
