ABOUT

I'm a rock/southern rock/blues rock/heavy rock drummer seeking an established or start up band. I've played continually through the decades and through the years, have opened for Black Oak Arkansas, Steppenwolfe and Rare Earth and jammed with James Brown (until his drummer showed up).
I lived in Europe for 4 years and did the military base tours, clubs and cut 2 CDs with credits. I've also played the east and west coast circuits in the US as well. Looking for something that needs my skills and experience. My style is a combination of Todd Sucherman from Styx and Don Brewer of Grand Funk. I know dynamics, have excellent anticipation and always play to the song. I don’t mind hard work, and like gigging.
In the last few years, I've spent 12 or so years in successful trios and 4-piece rock bands gigging around the state, 3 years touring with a three-piece ZZ Top Tribute band The Manic Mechanics, 3 years working in an all originals heavy rock band, cutting another CD and in Judas Priest and REO Speedwagon tribute show bands. I’m open to many things and feel my drumming can add a lot to your sound and look. Before this I was in bands playing some rock/blues rock and classics such as Judas Priest, Styx, Zepplin, Doobie Brothers, AC DC, Guns 'n Roses, Bon Jovi, Whitesnake, Beatles, Petty, Boston, Purple, Montrose and Aerosmith, etc, until they finally dissolved. I approach each project for what it is and can be and always work with the other band members to get things right.
I have an good ear, a solid meter and excellent anticipation.. I'm a pocket drummer with a presence on stage. Send me a text at 971-718-1830 and let's talk about your project. If needed, I hire in for certain gigs you may have.Travel is never a problem and my attitude is positive. When we talk, send me a set list and we'll see where it goes.

Influences

Solid drumming, tight pocket, heard in blues-rock and classic rock bands like Doobie Bros, Styx, Bon Jovi and Guns 'N Roses to mention a few. My style anchors the song so guitarists and vocalists can do their thing and have a solid beat to anchor them. I don't mind some soloing but.I like tagging endings but only in context.

EQUIPMENT

A tour-grade, all black 8 piece Pearl Vision show kit with a chrome PDP rack for all stages, Tama double pedals, Zildjian, Istanbul, Paiste and Sabien cymbals, Sony drum mics, Evans G2 heads and a Shure Beta 91 kick mic. I use ProMark Japanese White Oak 707 nylon-tipped sticks, JBL monitors, and have a practice PA 1600 watt powered board, JBL JRX series 125 mains and excellent cables/gear for all. PA is JBL gear. The kit sounds great in a any club and when mic'd on a stage it adds to the stage presence. The kit is tour level gear. Looks good and adds to the look and presence of the band on any stage. If you're going to play out, you have to have the gear needed to provide the necesssry look and feel the band needs. The audience listens, but they want visual entertainment as well.
