Alto vocalist with polished pipes and no EGO, sings lead and loves doing back up harmonies. Performing classy Blues standards, R&B and Jazzy Blues improvisation as a duo, trio or full band, "FASTLANE" magazine featured
"Susan'L" in 2003, but in fall of 2004, a broken bone in her foot took her away from the 4 hour performances . . . now she's back with a passion to get back out there and perform. Most recently, Pianist Mollie Kidari, who performs as a duo, playing classical pieces in addition to originals and Blues covers, just completed recording some material for a demo together and Susan'L got inspired by one of Mollie's own original Jazz compositions, and has another Jazzy Blues original titled "VACATION", not yet released! Soon www.susanl.com will offer the photo history, music and original improvisation that has become her signature style, creating melodies and lyrics captured on the spot from the inspiration of the musicians, requested by her fans with the past 5 years singing Blues IMPROV on stages from San Francisco, to Beal Street in Memphis Tennessee to Philadelphia at "Warm Daddy's" Blues Club! Precious recordings from "Warsaw Wally's" Home of the BLUES and several BLUES Improvisations captured at various clubs will be available in addition to studio recordings with guitarist, Guy Filapelli former player of Chaka Kahn and keyboardplayer presently touring with a Lynyrd Skynyrd Tribute Band. When available, they both
work with Susan'L & Company. BACKGROUND: Susan'Ls professional history evolved from playing several instruments while singing lead and back up to 60's, 70's & 80's in the band
"Eternity Road" with Love Songs and Rock'n Roll cover tunes, renaming the band to "KOZ" with a change in a couple of players, were chosen to open for the "VENTURES" for over 4000 fans in Phoenix by 1983. After performing steady for 5 years, Susan'L put her electric bass, keyboards, rhythm guitar and drums aside until 2000 when she got inspired to sing classy Blues,Jazzy improv and R&B. A CD titled
"Improvisation 2001" captured lyrics and melodies on the fly at the Gray Room Studios in Glendale, Arizona, featuring the rock flavor of lead guitarist Don Karg and resulted in six improvisational recordings in 2 hours . . . all keepers. Following blues performances and Henry MOJO Thompson's induction into the Arizona Blues Hall of Fame as "Susan'L", the band "Susan'L & Company" gained recognition and performed regularly scheduled venues across Arizona for 3 years. Opening at "Alice Cooperstown" for the "Danny Rhodes" band in Phoenix, her only live VIDEO of "Susan'L & Co.", featured several players including former Allman Brothers Band member, guitarist Corky Meier. Late Fall 2004 Susan'L accepted an invitation to visit Southern Rock All Star "Brian Flynn", the former house band of Sammy Hagar's Club CABO WABO in MEXICO that resulted in media coverage. The editor of the "GRINGO GAZETTE" Mexico's only English newspaper showed up and heard her singng, returning the next night with photographers to get a photo of himself with Susan'L and Brian Flynn, shown in the paper under "Happenings this week in Cabo San Lucas" followed by an article "Phoenix R&B Singer does CABO".
