BLACK NORTHERN REIGN defines the genre for old school raw minimally edited Classical Black Metal in Maryland.

Do an internet search for Svendorrian and the one-man band BLACKNORTHERNREIGN or Black Northern Reign to see music and videos. Forged from Seattle's Black Metal underground scene with a heart colder than a polar winter I do everything, all instruments, vocals, music, recording, videos, with four+ CD/albums.

I have never focused on any one thing or instrument, and because of this I have been a Jack of All Trades-Master of None one man studio/ video band that plays Black Metal with death and doom influences.

Cult type Black Metal and Nordic Doom Metal. So hard and dark it is only known to very few people who are aware of it and is deliberately out of the view of the general public. If you are not aware of this, then you are not in the circle and you will never know or even wish to know about it. This is potentially dangerous knowledge, and this is way out of your league. DO NOT assume anything. Close this window, delete your internet history, run very far away and never mention this to anyone. Ever.

I grew up being a band nerd in school bands and I used to be advanced to expert on saxophone and bass guitar, and intermediate to moderate on any other instrument I put my hands on, and I read the sheet music for all of them. However due to life priorities I took a 20-year hiatus and got back into it around 2009. Due to the hiatus and medical issues, I am nowhere near as good as I used to be, but I have been good enough.

Influences

I play primarily classical and modern Scandinavian Black Metal and Nordic Black Doom with strong classical Avant-Garde / classical Black Death Metal influences. Lyrics are originally based off of old scandinavian Christian hymns-not in agreement with social norms of the genre, many groups of this sub-genre of metal may have satanic or paganistic influences, but I am a true spiritual Christian, not a fake secular christian, even though I have openly practiced Wicca and Norse paganism in the past and I do acknowledge Norse Asatru-Odinism Paganism in my own heritage, and that the ancient eternal fire in my bloodline going back a thousand years rages on within me.

The deliberate use of music production and video technology in a way to artistically accentuate my recordings was mandatory.

Any faults or imperfections in my work was deliberately put in or left in, in accordance with raw, nonconforming primitive cult type Black Metal style.

I do not follow or fit in with others, even in Black Metal. No Drama. I am of few words. I take my own path, I don't do "social hour" and I have nothing to prove to anyone. (Scandinavian INFJ - Sigma Male Personality)

Influences are: Dimmu Borgir, Immortal, Emperor, Old style Dark Throne, Gorgoroth, Dark Funeral, the very controversial Panzer Division Marduk, Massemord, Hypocrisy, Satyricon (Mother North), Cold World/Dying God (My Dead Bride), Lorna Shore, Blackbraid, Tsjuder, Borknagar, Deinonychus, Tomi Ullgren and Shape of Despair, Skepticism, Scandinavian and Nordic metal. Morbid Angel and Obituary (Florida Death Metal) and the Presa-Canario Mastiff Dog. Non-Metal influences are the underrated Nigel John Taylor, Nick Rhodes, Roger Taylor, Simon LeBon, and Andy Taylor of Duran Duran, Steve Stevens and Billy Idol, the 1980's Reggae scene, and traditional Classical Music.

This type of metal is not out to prove anything, and it's not about displaying talent or ability, it's about artistic emotion. It does not care about and does not follow the guidelines of other metal genres.

I take my own path, regardless of if it is liked or even disliked and hated. Even in the black metal genre, I could care less. Metal is global. My videos, albums and EP's have gone global, and my Metal fans are global as well.
