Tactylics is a soul-rock band seeking the best up-and-coming drummer, bassist, and keyboard player that NYC has to offer! We need excellent skills, experience, a distinctive look, and someone under 30 years of age.

Drummer

Job Description:

We need a walking, talking, breathing metronome with style and flair. The groove of a hip-hop drummer coupled with the power and dynamics of a rock drummer. You have a great sense of rhythm, killer fills, but can still hold the groove (and tempo) and play consistent patterns per song section. In other words, easy on the improv, but we do want a little. This band does acoustic shows as well, so you need to be versatile with percussive instruments (i.e. Djembe, shakers, congas, and etc). Click- and track-friendly is a must. Electronic drums, triggers, and/or samplers are highly encouraged.

Bass Player

Job description:

Versatility in Funk, R&B, Soul, and Rock styles. You are a funky yet soulful player who can lay down a fat bass line, yet can still pull back and groove. We need a drummer on the bass--like our drummer, you ought be able to improv, but you also enjoy playing rock solid, consistent patterns that shake asses unconditionally. A 5-string player is preferred so you can get those lowwww notes (or a 4-string set up for B-E-A-D tuning).

Keyboard/Synth Player

Job description:

We need a mad scientist on the keys! You have a background that extends from Jazz to Classical, and you excel in theory and arrangement for co-writing/composition purposes. On the other hand, you're at home among the electronic soundscape that synthesis, sampling, and killer effects provide. You're probably also a decent singer. We're not a jam band looking for crazy improvisation, looking more for someone to fill out the sound and contribute rather than dominate.

ALL POSITIONS:

-You want to help build a GREAT band
-You can personally draw at least 20 friends to a show
-Extra points if you can carry a tune and sing backup
-Must have and KNOW your own equipment
-Must have transportation--reimbursements negotiable
-Compensation available if your skills justify it, but we want bandmates, not hired guns
-Compensation (if any) will be treated as an advance against future earnings--this keeps you fed and all of us incentivized to make the band succeed
-You are ready and willing to tour when the moment arrives
