Descarga is a Salsa and Afro-Cuban group. The rhythm section is a little bit of a departure in the sense that as opposed to multiple percussionists and a conga player, we have a single trap-set and congas. Another way in which we differ from similar format or genre bands is the material we choose. We focus on original material as well as arrangments of tunes well outside the "normal" catalogue of salsa and other carribean musics. Currently, Descarga has a playlist of tunes as widely desparaging as "Human Nature" (Michael Jackson's thriller album) and the Aria from Bizet's opera Carmen, "- Sais que je t'aime et regarde toi". We are always looking for reeds and brass. Reading is a must as well as the ability to blow over solo sections.
