I'm a 30 year old drummer with about 15 years of playing experience. I've been in cover bands, original bands, on Long Island, NYC, and Hoboken, NJ. But now, I'm looking for any type of musician(s) who want to play and have fun with motivation to play, but no rush to gig or anything.
I've done the low-end touring method; getting to the gigs in cars, band vans, etc. I've also played all over the tri-state area on Long Island, NYC, all over NNJ, DC, Philly, Chicago, etc. I would like to keep things on Long Island for now, ideally in Nassau County.
I'm looking for something low-key and casual, but fun and with a mature level of professionalism. I'd like to go into something with decent expectations, but no major master plan. In other words, just getting together to jam, play some covers, see if there's any chemistry for possible original music. If you're looking for a drummer to practice several times a week, want to "make it," or you have a "showcase" and "gigs coming," best of luck, but I'm not your drummer. If you're looking to challenge yourself as a player and play whatever comes to mind, please keep reading.
As a player, I am wide open to influences and styles. I like to improvise, and I would be thrilled to find players who can jam on The Grateful Dead, the Allman Bros, and/or Phish. I also love the groove mentality of strong bass players and funk bands such as The Meters, James Brown, Junior Walker and Bill Withers. I am very comfortable playing strong, hard rock pocket music like Derek and the Dominos, The Who, Zeppelin, Band of Gypsies, Robert Randolph and the Family Band, etc. If you tease any number of classic rock songs, be ready, because I'll push you to play the whole thing! But really, too many influences to mention them all.
As I mentioned I would like to keep rehearsals on Long Island. I am a teacher, so I have availability early on weeknights and during holiday breaks. Not always available, but I'm best with a routine schedule.
I have recordings available upon request.
