THE RENT is a multi-racial dance party cover band which has played the better venues in and around the KCMO area.
We are looking for a diverse lead vocalist male or female or both over the age of 21 who have a youthful look and energy and can engage a crowd that can sing a mix of soul/funk, rock , pop , a tiny bit of country from the 60's to 2012 like:
James Brown, Jason Mraz, Beyonce, Journey, Prince, Garth Brooks, Cee-lo, Skynyrd, Rihanna, Aretha, Amy Winehouse, Living Colour, Stevie Wonder, Shaina Twain, Neil Diamond, Aerosmith, Dr. Dre/Snoop Dog, Katy Perry etc etc etc....if it's danceable and recognizable we are game to play it and whatever else the party calls for and we need a singer that can go there too. BTW if you can rap even better but if not that's cool ,first and foremost we are looking for a vocalist.
Also we get a lot of people that know rock but don't know soul/funk and it's very important you have that piece of the pie before you answer this ad and with all due respect we love , listen and play lots of things but we are not a classic, heavy/dark/metal rock, blues, jam, jazz or originals band.
You are available most evenings and weekends to rehearse a maximum of 2 times a week at our practice space located in downtown KCMO and to do gigs which will be for the most part on Fri and Sat. evenings. We would like to get back to playing a maximum 3 weekends a month and we do have the connections to do so .
You have your own transportation, don't do drugs, are not a drunk or a diva and can come to the audition and practices with your homework done ahead of time so we can put all our parts together.
If you're interested in possibly auditioning for the group please tell us about your musical experience wither it's 0 or many years and if you have a website where we can listen to you even better but if not that's fine and make sure to leave your phone number so we can call you if we are interested...a lot of people forget to do that.
