The Blumpkins have been a band since 1999. I got into hardcore/thrash/metal, like the late great Pantera and Six Feet Deep thanks to my best friend Ray Russ II. Then i purchased, out of a Columbus Pawn Shop, a Korg DDD-7 Drum Machine with one kit sound. I kinda went crazy and within a year had 50+ songs that turned slowly into what The Blumpkins are now. I had several fellow friends/musicians scream and play parts or even whole songs.(My songs average about 1 min 30 sec) Then Triple D, as I called him, made many great drum tracks.(The 1999 release 'The Funtastic Adventures of The Blumpkins.
Thats when ebay came to the rescue! Doctor 770 (a.k.a. Max Grindberg, a.k.a. Boss DR-770) was on my door step in 2-3 business days and changed The Blumpkins entirely! With only Max, a guitar and alot of screaming I made the Second LP 'West Virginia' (2001), then the album 'We are all put on Earth to Destroy'(Re-Recorded in 2010).
Playing live has been a hard thing. The drumming is sometimes impossible. So I'm going to try the One Man Band Thing. Or maybe I, Drew Seibert and Ray Russ will try this new thing The Two Man Band w/Max Grindberg at my feet.
I am looking forward to making another Blumpkins full length album in the future. The next LP will be called The Fall of an Empire. I'm hoping for a little help from a record company at this time in my life! To mainly get it together better and even faster! Wish me LUCK.
