I have been playing rock and roll guitar since my grandfather gave me my first Silvertone electric guitar and tube amplifier which he purchased from a Sears Catalog at the close of the 60's. I was soon banished to the garage by my mother when I learned my first power chords and the fact that tube amps sound pretty suite when you play them on 10. And I started playing live in bars and clubs when I was 16 (still don't know how I talked my parents into that one...).

I recently moved back to Iowa, where I grew up, after living in San Francisco for the past approx. 20 years. To get back to writing music informed by my roots.

I have a completely furnished recording studio setup in my home and am in one of the most creative periods of my life. I am looking for other fellow songwriters and musicians interested in recording some great modern music.

Whatever I and or we record I do want to present it live somehow, but the days of playing covers all weekend are long gone for me and I have no interest in any serious low-budget touring again. (I think living out of a van and cheap motel rooms looses it's charm after age 35.)

Influences:

I have been exposed to so much fantastic music over the years that it would be silly for me to attempt any sort of all inclusive list of influences, so instead I can simply list some of the music which seems to be informing my songwriting at the moment:

*Joe Strummer and the Mescaleros (still makes me very sad when I realize he was just starting to peak when he passed a couple xmas ago.)
*Drive-By-Truckers
*The Hold Steady
*Junior Brown
*Bo Ramsey
*Overkill River
*Rolling Stones - specifically the Some Girls album...I still can't figure out why the critics hated that album so much because I still love it...always have.
*Flaming Lips - speaking of who else I have always loved since their inception.
*Firewater

Even The The and Bob Mould's latest releases continue to get me revved.

Equipment List:

Like I said I have a completely furnished studio always setup and ready to go. That means mixing board, computers, mics, cables, monitors, PA, snake, a sound palette full of acoustic and electric guitars, basses, amplifiers, keyboards, drum machines, elec. drum set, and my current instrument of study an electric mandolin.
