ABOUT

THE PIRATE TAPE - The reason behind its name: You know how back in the days, before CD's, you would make a mix-tape, copy a cassette of a band/artist you liked or bootleg a live show... right? We compare this to what happens nowadays with people downloading all this music from torrents. This is great because musicians get lots of exposure which can only be good for them and even more so for start-up bands. If they have a fan base then they have shows, get radio airplay and eventually could make a living out of it. We probably wouldn't know and listen to many of the bands we do now if it wasn't because of this. Many of these "discovered" bands are music influences for us. Naming the band The Pirate Tape is a retro look at this so called illegal way of copying music when all it is an amazing way to give exposure to artists. Also the world's most resilient bit-torrent website is call The Pirate Bay which reinforces the meaning behind the band's name.
