Since the summer of 1993, Brandon Cunning has yet to be derailed from his mission of bringing rockabilly to a new generation. With his guitar playing, vocals and “stunning” showmanship, it's not hard to see and hear his influences of Presley, Holly, Lewis, and Setzer. Late in 2006, faced with a regional lack of interest in his 50's Rock 'N' Roll music, Brandon decided to relocate from his hometown of Washington, Pa., near Pittsburgh, to Memphis, Tn., which is the birthplace of Rock 'N' Roll. This provided a rebirth and a chance meeting between Cunning and local rockabilly piano sensation, Landon Lane, at the historic Peabody Hotel. After their first encounter and fast friendship, the two hired a pick -up band and were on the road within weeks for a gig in the windy city Chicago. In the summer of 2008, The Stunning Cunning Band backed up the legendary Smoochie Smith of the MarKeys, who had the hit song “Last Night” in 1961, at the Jackson, Tn. annual Rockabilly Festival. The have since added the incredible rhythm section of John Laborde (bass guitar) and T.J. Finzo (drums). This created a fresh start for the four on the Memphis and regional club circuit. The Stunning Cunning Band has a busy schedule in the next few months. Check the web sight for upcoming show dates. In March 2009, they headed into Sun Studio to start recording their first album. They have written some great songs and are looking forward to getting them recorded.
