About

I recently moved to the area from Northern California. I have professional equipment and an easy going attitude. I was told by a good friend that I am a Hammond purist, and he is probably right. I generally use my B3 for shows and studio work. However, I have found that it is impossible to use a 350lb Hammond organ under certain circumstances, so a few years back I crossed the threshold into the virtual world.

I am interested in sitting in, or working with with any Blues, Blues/Rock, Southern Rock or Motown band that is interested.
Not interested in working clubs 5 night a week any more, but there are always exceptions to any rule.

The music is various recording work I have done over the past 10 years or so.

BIO
I started playing the Hammond B3 with High School friends in 1973. After HS I continued to play with various Sacramento bands until founding the "Ian Shelter" Band with mates John Flanagan, Kevin Flynn, Jeff Heller and Mike Linn. The "Shelter" band became a popular fixture on the Sacramento club scene from the late 70's through the early 80's, releasing our debut album simply titled "Ian Shelter" in 1979.

For the last decade I've played with a variety of Nothern CA blues artists including the late Yvonne Rose, The FBI Band, The Linda Bracamonte Band, "Marshal Wilkerson and Smoked Sugar" The Joel Ray Hensley Project. My Hammond, vocals and piano can be found on numerous projects as well as a solo CD titled B3 Blues.

Influences

Too many to mention here, but the top of my list would be
Jimmy Smith
Gregg Rolie
and the highly under-rated Gregg Allman
