About
Born in Vidor, Texas, the home of Country greats Tracy Byrd and Clay Walker, the late-blooming Tom Simmons hails from “the Golden Triangle” of Southeast Texas, a small tri-city geographic area that has produced the likes of George Jones, the Big Bopper, Mark Chestnutt, and Janis Joplin, to name a few.
I found this 6' 3" mountain man nestled in the mountains of Idaho, in the town of Kamiah (1125 people), doing free gigs for different causes. He sang like a voice out of the wilderness with a terrific range {3 octaves}and a smooth delivery. Tom now lives in Emmett, Idaho, about a half hour from Boise.
Recently, I took Tom to my birthplace in New Zealand, where Tom wowed the kiwis with his singing. A news release issued by one of Tom's kiwi clients read "With a voice like liquid honey..."
For three weeks, Tom sang all around the Taranaki Province of the North Island of New Zealand.
Tom and his wife, Linda, made some lifelong kiwi friends, and, from that trip, came a double album of a live performance in New Plymouth, New Zealand.
Tom Simmons has a extensive repertoire and performs modern country as well as classic rock “n” roll with a little country twist, which makes his style unique. People of all ages love to dance to this long tall Texan with his boundless energy.
