3 peice outfit focusing on writing/recording/performing all original material. Not interested in doing covers.
Members include:
Troy Cromwell - guitars/vocals
Kimberly Sindle - bass/vocals
Ijawon Williams - drums
Where we're at right now is just bringing things together. Experience really varies within this group. I've played on/off for 20+ years, playing out numerous times and have done some work in the studio as well. Ijawon is an extremely talented drummer, young and focused. He has ony played a few years but trust me, he's better than 80% of the drummers I've heard, especially around this area. Very unique "cymbal work" and plays hard. Imagine a Nirvana w/ a hint of Led Zep. Has some Jazz influences for sure. Kimberly is our newest addition, she played the cello and viola growing up and we've managed to talk her into giving the bass a try since I really wanted to have a female in that spot. She's amazingly dedicated, loves to practice and is learning at a very decent pace. Still a beginner but our style doesn't call for Billy Sheehan.
What I have found over my many years of playing is it is sometimes very hard to find a chemistry within a group. You might have 5 extremely talented musicians but they just don't blend well or compliment each other, or just plain don't get along. This might not hold true to most cover bands simply because they're doing it for fun, selling someone else's music. Concentrating on the $3 cover charge in their pockets after playing 3 sets of Creed, Pearl Jam, and Metallica...no chemsitry needed. Bands that do original material need chemistry to survive. I've only felt this "chemistry" one other time, a very long time ago. Something has been missing or wrong ever since. Not anymore. Even though we are in the embryo stages we feel it..."it" is there.
If you're looking for a party, don't bother...it's not here. Been there done that. All drugs and alcohol do is steal your dreams away...and that's a fact. If you're stuck in that situation, all I can say is get out. Unless you wanna be stuck in some joke of a town thinking you're going somewhere but you're creeping up on 30 or even 40 years old still "gettin' cool"...we get high off our own supply. Writing music.
We think it would be very cool to maybe add a synth/keys player. Honestly, I'm hoping the spot to be filled by another female - simply to broaden our sound vocally.
I spent over a decade of my earlier years playing in a speed metal band called Spike Opera. Though it was fun, that's not where my heart's at any longer. I'm far more tranquil, plus the older I get my hands stiffen up like bricks. Playing heavy is cool, but I'm just not down with that whole heavy metal/death metal/pro wrestling scene. I'm definently not feeling the "hate-love" vibe...
