Searching for experienced/talented musicians to fill out a diverse Country/Rock group that will be the pinnacle of live music in Iowa. Members will receive above average payouts, perform for festivals, large venues, and opening for National Acts 2-6 times per month (mostly Friday/Saturday). Rehearsal will be frequent at first (1-2 per week), and after original material learned will occur monthly or weekly depending on bookings and new material. This will be a semi-professional group. We are looking to have fun and continue our career and family lives while putting out quality performances in the local area, and potentially outside the area on rare instances (if musicians are capable). The focus of the group musically will be the versatility in Country, as well as performing some rock to suit venues and larger crowds. Would like to collaborate on original Country music as well. Musicians that will be selected will be based on musicianship, stage presence, and the will to perform selected music. This will NOT be a democracy, but also looking for input, suggestions, and musical contributions from an instrumental aspect. Think of it as being a shareholder, but the CEO will guide decisions. It will be a fun ride with the only responsibility to play music and perform. The highlight of the group will be harmonies in the form of a powerful, locally accomplished male/female duet. This will be complimented by instrumentalists with ability and desire to solo, as well as 3 and 4 part harmony vocalists. This band will take the stage to shock and awe it's customers.
I have experience with a former, local, top-performing Country act, performances with a Rock & Roll Hall of Fame member, was Regional Finalist in 2008 Colgate Country Showdown (finished 4th in Region), and currently Performing with Eastern Iowa Progressive/Hard Rock band (five-piece). Playing in Muscatine, Iowa City, West Branch, Cedar Rapids, Des Moines, and Aledo, Illinois
We play originals and covers.
That is just my experience. The female vocalist is far better than me. I don't list my accomplishments because I boast my vocal ability. I recognize that God has gifted me with some ability, and I use it accordingly while recognizing there are far better singers out there. This group is not being ran by me so I can front the band. I simply know the business, know my limitations (music selection) and know a good musician when I hear one. That is why I am not "hiring" musicians to play FOR ME, rather I am looking for similar talent to join two accomplished vocalists to complete a superb group. I believe there could be better vocalists, and better guitarists, etc. There will not be a better group out there once this group gets rolling.
The idea is to start with interested inquiries this fall/winter, and begin selecting band members around January/February with auditions/interviews shortly after. Would like to begin rehearsing material between March and May, and booking shows by summer. I am looking for any/all of the following; drummer, bass guitar, rhythm guitar, lead guitar, steel guitar, mandolin, fiddle, piano/keys, and backup vocals. I am also interested in finding a solid sound/light tech with or without equipment (if you know one).
Wide variety from Country, gospel, traditional, rock, progressive rock, and Hard Rock.
supplemental sound equipment with intentions of purchasing full sound at the beginning of forming this group.
