Our fantastic piano accompanist is taking a 4-month leave to do a gig on a cruise ship. Our church is in need of a piano accompanist for the choirfor 4 hours a week. The piano accompanist would play for 1.5 to 2 hours beginning at 7:30 on Wednesday nights for rehearsal, and would accompany the choir at the 10AM service (with rehearsal prior). I don't have the exact numbers in front of me, but it is about $140 a week (before taxes). This temporary position would last from mid-October until late-February. There is no pay for when the choir does not sing/rehearse (usually around Thanksgiving and Christmas). The ability to sight-read and play from an open score is a must. Willingness to play piano/organ duets with the organist is a plus. The choir sings a variety of music. Candidates will be asked to audition by playing a rehearsed piece and a sight-read piece.
