About

I'm playing bass in a 3 piece Classic Rock cover band right now, and we just need a vocalist. The 3 of us have gotten pretty tight, and with the right singer, we'd love to play some gigs. Here's our playlist as of early 2010. Nothing is set in granite, since what we play will depend on what you can sing, and what you like, too. If you're into this and can sing, drop me a line.

About me....

I grew up playing the piano/keyboards, but marriage, 2 kids, and a Wall St IT career kept music out of my life. Then, I picked up the bass guitar, and have been playing ferociously ever since. Looking for friends to jam with, and hopefully play gigs once in a while. To me, music is all about the communication between the musicians, and the audience.

Influences

Paranoid Funk/Rock/Jazz. I have a wide range of interests, but the bands I have been playing along with recently include: RHCP, Yes, Rush, Steely Dan, RATM, Audioslave, Led Zeppelin, old Al DiMeola, Mahavishnu Orchestra, and other rock and jazz. The two bass players that I have learned the most from are Flea and Chris Squire. I'd also have to credit Geddy Lee, John Paul Jones, and Victor Wooten, too. As a keyboard player, I worshipped Keith Emerson, and learned every ELP song I could get my hands on. In my early 20s, while living in Japan, I played keyboards in a Jazz Fusion cover band (Casiopea and T-Square mostly). I haven't played piano seriously in well over 15 years, though, and while I would be willing to shake off the rust, right now my main interest is rocking and funking out on the bass.

Equipment List

Ibanez SR 500 4-string bass, Zoom B2 Effects Box, Hardke Bass Amp. I also have a small sound-proofed studio in my basement as a practice space, with a set of drums.
