We're a happily married couple who are both college educated, classically trained "Used To Be" musicians and want to get back into playing and singing again with others like us. Cindy sings lead, harmony and backup (no "diva" attitude - would greatly prefer to share singing the lead with two or three others who also sing harmony!), Anthony plays guitar (prefers to play lead, but is an accomplished Bassist), of course, he also plays Rhythm and as an added bonus, plays mandolin. He also arranges, transposes, etc., sings lead on a few songs (the kind that are more spoken than sung), and can sing light harmony/back-up. We both read music or can play by ear or charts. Also, just to get this out in front - we don't smoke and don't want to rehearse in a smoky place. We don't do illegal drugs. We are light social drinkers. VERY IMPORTANT - We choose NOT to be around "drama" and people who argue and bicker all the time. Sorry if that offends you, but life is too short to be uncomfortable or unhappy. We would like to meet others who are positive people to play the music of our generations, and we're open to older and newer songs, too. We are not sloppy musicians, we are looking for bandmembers who take pride in their craft and play with finesse and dynamics. We are looking to form a show/variety/dance band with the primary focus on playing Weddings (services as well as receptions), larger private parties, Family Reunions, and corporate events. In other words, a high-quality band that puts on a high quality show and gets paid appropriately for their services. We hope that our future band-mates will also realize the importance of performing at benefits and fundraisers - we've all been blessed and should help out with worthy causes. We don't mind playing the bar-venues sometimes, we love to rock out - but we would hope to concentrate on larger gigs. We're willing to put the time effort into this to create something excellent and profitable!
If you want to contact us, please e-mail us at Yoostabees at gmail dot com or through BandMix. Thanks!

Influences:

Our musical tastes are very eclectic - all kinds of music of the 40's through today - classic rock, southern rock, Motown, selected "pop", the blues, R&B, old and new country, even some show tunes and fun/novelty stuff. We absolutely understand that when gigging, a successful band can play whatever is right for that particular crowd - even if it's the "Chicken Dance" song!

We like the Eagles, Fleetwood Mac, Tom Petty, CCR, the Beatles and lots of other "British Invasion" groups, power ballad/hair groups (Foreigner, Journey, Rush, WhiteSnake) some of Meat Loaf's old hits are fun to sing, as are some of Queen's old hits. Chick Power songs - Heart, Pat Benetar, etc, are a particular favorite. Stevie Wonder, REO Speedwagon, Roy Orbison, Johnny Cash, Eric Clapton, Hendrix, a lot of indie music - see, I told you we're eclectic! We have lots of experience playing church music (gospel to high church and a lot of contemporary) and Anthony has even been in a polka band! ha-ha! We like to play music that people like to hear! We also feel strongly that sets should include instrumental pieces - let the players show off their talent and hard work.

Equipment List:

Many Guitars, Fender Basses, amps and mics, keyboard, percussion equipment, and a really nice Lab/Shepherd mix dog named Jack. We do plan on purchasing a good electric drum kit and a better keyboard so bandmembers don't have to haul theirs over for rehearsal. We also plan on purchasing a good PA system for the group when the time comes.

Members Of Band:

So far it's just us. Our dream is a Fleetwood Mac style band (need a drummer, bassist, rhythm guitarist, and keyboardist) with at least two and hopefully three of those folks capable of singing lead and definitely able to sing harmony and create a great sound. We live in Tampa near the International Mall/Westshore Mall and are renovating our den to be a music practice/recording room.
