ABOUT

Yuki Ito was born in Hokkaido, Japan. She played the piano since she was 4-years-old. At the age of 12, she started to play the acoustic bass in her junior high school band. After one year, she joined to JMIA (Jazz Month in Asahikawa) Junior Jazz Orchestra, and started her jazz education.
After high school, Yuki entered Senzoku College of Music in Yokohama, Japan. In 2004, she attended the IAJE conference with JMIA Junior Jazz Orchestra. Also she had concerts with Chick Corea, Ed Thigpen, and famous jazz musicians in the world, as a member of JMIA Junior Jazz Orchestra.
Yuki graduated from Berklee College of Music after winning the Lawrence and Alma Berk Scholarship which covers full tuition. She studied and played with Hal Crook, Bruce Gertz, JoAnne Brackeen, David Santoro, Greg Hopkins, Scott Free, just to name a few.
Currently, she is working as a professional acoustic bassist based in Boston and NYC area playing in many bands and recording sessions. “Picture”, composed and performed by Yuki’s quartet was featured in the Berklee’s jazz revelation record label album, “Common Ground”, which was out in music stores in 2008.
