I started out my musical life as a 5 string banjo player. As I grew, I developed a crush on the mandolin and before I knew it I was in a love affair with her cousin the fiddle. I eventually started hanging out with that bad boy the electric guitar. We are still best buds to this day.
I’ve gotten to know a lot of great people over the years and have been a part of some pretty exceptional musical events. One of the best experiences has been witnessing my children taking their own first steps into a life fueled by a passion for music.
I am recently retired from a career teaching art and I am pursuing music full time now. I am teaching at the Guitar Center in Des Moines and love it immensely.
I continue to play occasionally with my family in a traditional bluegrass/country/folk setting. I play every Sunday with the Nevada UMC Praise Team and I am a guitar player with the Vivace classic rock band out of Ames. I would certainly consider another project if it was the right fit.

Truly too many to list. Here are a few of my favorites though:
Sam Bush, Bela Fleck, Mark O'Connor, Tony Rice, Jerry Douglas, Ricky Skaggs, Chris Thile, Merle Travis, Vassar Clements, John Cowan, David Grisman, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Gary Moore, Joe Satriani, Larry Carlton, Paul Gilbert. That just barely scratches the surface. I really am influenced by intense, intelligent, improvisational instrumentalists. I love soulful, heart felt, virtuosic musicians of any genre.
