I've played in bands since I first sat behind a drum set in 6th grade. My drumming style is best described as tasteful, solid and supportive. I've never been a drum solo guy and prefer to make the band sound good instead of standing out with aggressive, over the top drum parts that distract from the melody or risk going off the rails.

I'm currently playing with two bands: PULL and The Skinner Principle. Check us out on Mark Zuckerberg's site, look for at PULLsongs or at TheSkinnerPrinciple.

I've got a family and a full-time executive career. I started playing in rock bands in middle school and played through high school, college, and the DC amateur music scene. Played both originals and covers ranging from classic rock, groove rock, melodic rock, blues, jam band, adult alternative.

I enjoy playing with people who want to make original music, enjoy the creative process, have fun but take it seriously, and play out occasionally. Chemistry is important --- we all have too much stress in our lives and don't need extra drama.

Drumming influences include Neal Peart (Rush), Phil Ehart (Kansas), Carter Beauford (Dave Matthews Band), Dave Weckl, anyone really talented.

I started out playing heavy metal in the 70's as a kid. Moved to pop rock/80's music in high school, then classic rock and blues in college. Post-college bands were mostly original melodic rock with a lot of free form jamming. Lately I'm more interested in layered music with strong melodies.

Instrument experience:

Mapex Armory 7-piece acoustic fusion set w/ Zildjian Cymbals. For practicing and recording I have outfitted this with mesh heads and triggers to play as an electronic kit (to control volume), using a Pearl Mimic Pro module featuring Steven Slate Drums.

My gigging kit is a Pearl Decade Maple 5-piece fusion set.
