ABOUT

I have been a singer/songwriter since 2006, but I have been actively involved in playing music since 1998 (largely through school until 2003). Although I have been playing music for most of my life, I only recently realized that I have the ability to make music a career if I want to, and now I want to do that. I used to regularly jam with other musicians, have collaborated with others on over 20 songs, and I have written over 30 songs entirely on my own (with many more partials in the works). So I have a lot of material to start with, but I equally enjoy working with others to create new music.

I am most comfortable jamming when I play the drums, but I do well on rhythm guitar, bass, and vocals, with lead guitar being my weakest when in unfamiliar territory.

I know that my ideal band may be a tall order, so a regular type of band works well for me, too, but my ideal band looks something like this: Most, if not all, members are multi-instrumentalists. We each have a preferred instrument, but we like to switch it up occasionally to inspire new material and to keep from getting stale. This also extends to performances - instrument changes on stage are fun. If there are multiple songwriters in the band, we share that role, and each songwriter is the "owner" of their song and the rest of the band is the songwriter's backing band, or the rest of the band collaborates on it, whichever is best in the moment.

My current goal (this can be changed easily) is to find someone who can play guitar (ideally lead guitar) and also sing. We will start off as a 2-piece where we both play acoustic and sing together. If you don't have any of your own music, we'll just start with mine. I think this works easiest for open mics and other early-day performances. Once we get that down, we will add other instruments to our group and build out the full band. Then we take over the world!

I'm interested in basically any musician, so if you like what you read or hear from my sound_cloud (/alchemistressrock), be sure to contact me (I'm just using the free version of the site, so please email: alchemistressrock <at> g_mail <dot> com [<-- no underscores or spaces]).
