I am 25 and started playing guitar and bass about 2 years ago and have only ever played alone. Looking to expand my horizons and play/write with other people, would like to gig one day but I don't feel like my skill is there yet.

Punk: Hardcore (Bad Brains, Dead Kennedy's), Riot Grrrl (Sleater-Kinney, Le Tigre) and Post-Hardcore (Poison the Well, Brand New)
Metal: Thrash (Slayer, Anthrax), Death Metal (Death, Anything with Brendon Small), Classic Metal (Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Black Sabbath)
Pop: I use "pop" pretty loosely, I mainly like artists that make pop music with an artsy, weird or otherwise unique undertone. I love Sleigh Bells, St. Vincent, Florence + the Machine and The Smiths.
That is just the cliff notes version, I also like Hank Williams and Cannibal Corpse and many others. I'll try anything once.
