ABOUT

Drummer 1st, and guitarist 2nd.

Hi!
I’m 59 yrs old. I’ve got 50 years of drumming under my belt, and have now passed 13 years of playing guitar.

Work, kids, and ice hockey keep me busy, but I'm always looking for the opportunity to play in a gigging band, get involved in a project, or just have some jam sessions.

I was in a Bay Area band in the 90's. Played 60’s to 90’s rock covers, and played gigs in venues of various sizes, ranging from bars, clubs, and private parties, to a gig at Shoreline Amphitheater (as a drummer). No gigging activity since the turn of the century. :)

Drumming:
I typically gravitate toward more complex songs with varying time signatures, but also enjoy just playing in the pocket. I do tend to add a little flare here and there to keep things interesting.

I have a small amount of recording experience.

I have good vocal pitch and a decent voice and ear for backup and/or harmony. I can play several other instruments (Electric/Acoustic Guitar... can play rhythm, & I continue to advance my lead guitar chops as well).
I also mess around with harmonica and piano, but I'm not skilled enough in those instruments for performing.

I like collaborating and jamming to develop original material.

I am available a few evenings per week, and every other weekend.

All audio clips were done the lazy way… just used my iPhone to record a couple of quick drumming examples with my Roland drum kit set at a low volume. I also recorded a few songs live with my guitars. All recordings are a bit rough, but between these and the video drum clips, you should be able to get the idea of where I’m at.

Thanks!

EQUIPMENT

2005 Roland TD-20 professional series electronic drum kit with double bass pedal setup. It was Roland's top of the line kit and still holds it's own VS most recent Roland kits.

The plus side of this drum kit:
- It makes it easy to practice almost anywhere, since volume can be controlled.
- It can plug directly into a mixing board for perfectly mixed recording or for live performances in any sized venue.

Of course, there is no substitute for acoustic, and I actually prefer acoustic. I just need a reason to buy a new kit, so if needed, I will be happy to pick up a new acoustic drum kit for live gigs.
