Huge fan of gritty sounding blues/rock/country music like Black Keys, Kaleo, Steeldrivers and bands like Shovels and Rope and Alabama Shakes as well as the others in my influences below.
I was born in Savannah, GA where I grew up listing to and singing Motown, oldies, blues, 60's and 70's rock, and old country. (My dad was a lot older than all my friends dads.) Sang in a few bands throughout my early 20's. One of them being a 90's cover band which was so fun. Was a performer at a speak easy called Mata Hari for a couple of years before I moved to CO 10 years ago. I tried out a band for a few months after moving to CO but it did not work out (more than happy to explain why). Got knocked up as it goes, so had to put my musician life on hold for some years... :D Not to mention CO really doesn't have a lot of bands that play the kind of music I wanted to sing. In the last few years I've been singing in an all woman's band in CO but my loud raspy style wasn't suitable for their soft angelic like sound so it was mostly for fun and community. So it's been 10 years since I've sang in a "serious" band, but have never had the chance to sing for a legit serious band.
In addition and for full disclosure, I do play guitar and a little ukulele, but it is NOT suitable for live. Despite playing guitar since I was about 12, I never practiced enough to be good! Also I have been known to forget lyrics and straight up improvise, so there's that.
But anyway, so happy to be back in the south! Excited about jumping back into music, making some new friends, and being back in my element.
