These are some of my songs and the kinds of ideas I have. They're not very commercial. I'm on sound cloud under the name "alvathecat" or maybe "alva the cat" if you want to reach me. Yeah, another damned cat. We're everywhere. Sorry. Anyway, if you go there and click on the song's title, you'll see the lyrics/credits. The standards on this profile are just me playing and singing into a microphone. I wrote and recorded the other songs here by myself, but I don't know what I'm doing. That's why the sound quality stinks. Everything is played and sung by me. I haven't jammed with anyone in a really long time. Frankly, I can't stand being around most people. I'm not a control freak and I never made a habit out of yelling at my bandmates so you won't see me in your face like some juiced-up jerk, if that's any help. Playing the bars and the streets by myself was a trip and a half. I did that in Chicago, the suburbs, and down in Houston, TX. I only have hazy memories of those days, though. That's probably a good thing. Before flying solo I was the bassist in a thrash metal band (Hexah) for a few years. I don't remember much of that either. Oh, well. I've been soberish for years now and I don't drink booze at all anymore. Does that count for anything? Probably not. I'm still an underachieving space case but my back's to the wall so I've got that going for me. I can read (basically) and change the key of a song with relative ease, too, if that's your thing. I had to teach myself so I might not be able to understand all of the university-level music things you say to me. Even though I'll always love that old heavy stuff, I don't want to rock. A small, low-energy acoustic project where we do all of those old standards, show numbers, ballads, and maybe sometimes some originals would be ideal. You can ask me to change the way I strum/pick a tune and I most probably will but you have to tell me what you want. I know I have my limitations but I don't necessarily always know what they are. That's why I think I might need a partner. I vaguely remember making money with this music sh*t. How else could I have stayed so fu*king loaded all that time? It's one of life's mysteries. Thinking about all of this makes me nervous, obviously. Also, I don't drive, I don't have a job and I'm always broke. Basically, I suck at life. You should probably know that. My basement is always available for jamming but I'd rather not use amps here, if you don't mind. Just our acoustic guitars or whatever. The neighborhood doesn't need to know what we're doing. I might be able to make it out to you.

Low-end stuff: a 12 string acoustic guitar, a 6 string acoustic guitar, a sound hole pick-up, a fiddle, and a couple of harmonicas for now. I record everything on an outdated version of Garageband on my outdated laptop using an interface thingy. I've got a real dog and pony show here. I can get my hands on some gear if and when I/we get my/our shit together.
