ABOUT

i am looking for some like-minded people in regard to music. it has occurred to me that we have to take every opportunity for the things that matter. music has always been very important in my life. i'll be completely upfront...i don't play the guitar. i wish that i did sometimes, but it's not for me. i play several instruments but i prefer to sing and write mostly. i can't sing when i have a trumpet to my mouth. i write a lot of lyrics. i can do that with the right people and i think that some great songs could come of this. if you're interested in actually getting out there and getting booked for work, then i'd like to know you.

Influences

there are so many people to name here...but i can say what's on my playlist right now. i'm really diggin billie holiday, chet baker, stan getz, jobim for jazz....ani as always for folk....i've been listening to that B.O.B song too and Usher's "OMG." Not too long ago, I was all over Patti Labelle's "Somewhere Over the Rainbow"....i actually just love that song...i have a recording of judy garland singing it at carnegie hall for the last time before she died. and luther vandross made a comeback with me, pretty hardcore. i love the doobie brothers. and i love michael jackson. yeah, there's a huge mixture of people. as far as alternative goes, i'm a huge vertical horizon fan and i believe them to actually be an alternative group. john legend is starting to settle in for me. and there's always going to be earth, wind and fire, t.o.p, frankie beverly/maze and marvin gaye on my ipod.
