ABOUT

A little history. Toured Europe and the States years ago, played many big (arena) gigs with Henry Gross in the 70s on the back of the hit "Shannon". Played Max's in the first days of punk, was banned from CBGBs, toured the northeast with my own little band playing juke joints and colleges, billed with the likes of Muddy Waters and James Cotton.
I burned out and stopped writing, and truly, writing was all I ever did. Everything else, performance wise, was subservient to the idea. So I quit the biz, cleaned out my head, developed a successful career in another field, and after many years decided I had the freedom and I wanted to play again. The Third International (.thethirdinternational) was a project I started with Ian McDonald of King Crimson, Bill Foster (Billy Cobham) and Nick DiFrisco in 2010 which recorded three albums, two singles, a four song studio DVD, a six song live DVD Various musicians contributed throughout its lifespan .We received over half a million plays worldwide, many stellar reviews and no money! I have to admit: Rock IS dead. So this new project is an experimental two piece (me & a drummer/percussionist) based on grooves programmed into a Maschine studio and played against using two loop units. One is for the guitar synth setup I use, the other for the Moog/vocal/harp combo I play. It is dance orientated. Experimental house with a soundscape psychedelic twist. Think: Radiohead meets Miles Davis doing gamelan at 120bpm. I am a blues guitar player by trade so that sensitivity is baked into the melodic foundation. There is sampling involved which the drummer/percussionist triggers. Drums are electronic. Rolands with a TD-30 brain. This is the quintessential jam band so players must interplay easily. Each performance is an event. A singular, unique offering. A one time deal. There is no "let's play it like we just did" because that will never happen again. It's EXPERIMENTAL. Performance live is highly visual, using backdrop videos combined with programmed intelligent lighting.

Past Events

We are starting a residency here. The second Friday of every month, starting on September the 11th, we will play two shows. 9pm and 11pm. We bring the studio to the stage and the full multi media concert presentation we gave at the Darress Theatre last year. It's a great little venue and we will be bringing in the full sound system for a really intense show. Good food & drink. Admission is free. Come early because the place will fill up.
