SouthSide Theater Company at Dog Story Theater ( 7 Jefferson SE Grand Rapids) will be presenting our upcoming production of "HEDWIG and the ANGRY INCH" March 28-30 and April 3-6 for 8 performances.
We are looking for our "ANGRY INCH", the rock band for our production. We are looking for 4 musicians: Keyboard; Lead Guitar + Acoustic (for one song), Bass; and Drums. Preferably one of the instruments (ideally Keys or Bass) is a vocalist and can sing harmony's and some back-up, but that is not a requirement.
The pay is a minimum of $25 dollars per performance/ per band member. Equalling a total of $200 dollars for the 2 weeks. If Ticket sales sell well, there is a potential for that pay to increase.
There are 8 performances: March 28 and 29 8:00 pm, March 30 8:00pm and 10:30 pm; and April 3-6 all at 8:00pm. There will also be a dress rehearsal March 29 at the venue Dog Story Theater. We plan on only having 1 or 2 rehearsals with our Singers/Actors before we move into the space.
We can provide a rehearsal space if the band wishes to practice together, but generally the band rehearses on their own until we meet together prior to opening.
•••HEDWIG and the ANGRY INCH tells the story of an "internationally ignored song stylist" Hedwig Schmidt, an East German rock 'n' roll goddess, who also happens to be the victim of a botched sex-change operation. This outrageous and unexpectedly hilarious story is dazzlingly performed by Hedwig in the form of a rock gig/stand-up comedy routine backed by the hard-rocking LIVE band, "The Angry Inch." Hedwig describes her life's search for "The Origin of Love" and her other half. It's a rocking ride, funny, touching and ultimately inspiring to anyone who has felt life gave them an inch when they deserved a mile.
